Dylan

"He was at one. He became identical with his breath. Dylan had become a column of air where his total physical and mental focus was this single breath coming out of his body. He had found a way in public to be almost like a shaman, with all of his intelligence and consciousness focussed on his breath." -Allen Ginsberg

MAN MAN

This is a poster that I just finished for the band Man Man coming to the National. Everyone should definately check it out because it is going to be killer. They are easily one of my favorite acts that I have seen perform and it is unlike anything else you will ever witness...total madness. I think I was inspired on this piece by this painting hanging in my bedroom that I brought from an old hippy that lives in a van on Venice Beach. He is awesome, this is the second painting that I bought from him. It was done on a potato sack...bad ass! And below that are a few sketches that I scanned in a little while ago. More to come.

Muddy Waters

This is my piece for Robin Eley and Scott Anderson's assignment to do a portrait for Rolling Stone of somebody with the letter that was given to us. I got the letter M, which has too many options, but I chose to do Muddy Waters because he is great. I tried to depict him as the father of Chicago blues, who brought delta blues to the city and turned it electric.

two things

The first is a drawing that I did this morning of a monsteresque Doug Martsch.
The second is a Gary Kelly's assignment froom the illustration academy where we had to illustrate a color. I had to illustrate orange. Get it?
